Microsoft has announced that it has sold over a million units of its digital music player, Zune. Robbie Bach, the president of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices Division revealed that Zune accounts for 10 percent of the hard-disk-based music player market share.

Okay, so it's a little unfair that Apple got a fairly significant head start on the Zune in terms of having time in the marketplace to develop a brand presence, but there's no denying that the handheld media player from Microsoft has a very, very long way to go before it can truly compete against the glossy ubiquitous wonder known to the world as the iPod.
