EMusic aims to bite into Apple’s music store (Times Online)

America’s second-largest online music store, eMusic, has launched a European service that will undercut Apple, the market leader, by offering tracks for as little as 17p each - more than four times cheaper than the iPod maker's flat rate of 79p.

Apple’s dominance of the online music market in Europe will be challenged on Tuesday with the launch of a pan-European subscription service offering 1.7m tracks, all of which can be played on mobile phones and other digital music players as well as Apple’s iPods.
